DUBAI, November 19, 2025: Emirates announced the purchase of eight additional Airbus A350-900 aircraft valued at US$3.4 billion at list prices during the Dubai Airshow 2025, strengthening its order book and expanding its fleet of new-generation wide-body jets. The additional aircraft, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-84 engines, will bring Emirates’ total A350-900 orders to 73 once all deliveries are completed. The Dubai-based airline said the newly ordered A350-900s are scheduled for delivery in 2031. Emirates has already received 13 of the aircraft type, which entered service with the carrier in late 2024. The A350-900 model is used on medium- and long-haul routes and is known for its composite structure, lower fuel consumption, and improved operational efficiency.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, said the latest order reinforces the airline’s fleet expansion program. “The Emirates A350’s entry into service last November has given us welcome additional capacity and enabled us to introduce Emirates’ latest inflight products to more customers, including our Premium Economy seats,” he said. “We look forward to working closely with Airbus on the delivery of our remaining aircraft, including the new units that we have ordered today.” He added that Emirates’ combined orders now total 375 wide-body aircraft, including a recent agreement for Boeing 777-9 jets announced earlier this week. The new commitments are part of the airline’s ongoing efforts to expand its long-haul network and enhance its global operations through the acquisition of fuel-efficient, next-generation aircraft.
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President of Sales for Airbus Commercial Aircraft, said Emirates’ new order reflects the strength of the long-standing partnership between the airline and the European manufacturer. “We are pleased to see our long-standing partner Emirates renewing its commitment to the Airbus A350, which continues to set the benchmark for long-haul travel,” he said. “We look forward to supporting Emirates as it expands its operations with one of the world’s most modern wide-body aircraft.” The Airbus A350-900 is designed for long-range operations and features advanced aerodynamics, lightweight materials, and reduced noise emissions.
Rolls-Royce strengthens partnership with Emirates on engines
Its Trent XWB-84 engines, built by Rolls-Royce, are among the most efficient large aero-engines in service, supporting lower fuel burn and extended operational life. The aircraft’s design also aligns with global aviation sustainability goals by reducing overall emissions compared to older aircraft types. Omar Ali Adib, Senior Vice President for Customers in the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia at Rolls-Royce, said the announcement underscores the company’s continuing partnership with Emirates. “The Trent XWB-84 has been setting the industry benchmark for large aero-engines for ten years, demonstrating outstanding durability and low fuel consumption, making it the ideal platform to support Emirates and its expansion,” he said. “We are proud to continue our long-standing relationship with Emirates.”
Additional wide-body orders reflect strong fleet expansion
The latest order highlights Emirates’ position as one of the world’s largest operators of wide-body aircraft and reinforces its commitment to maintaining a modern, fuel-efficient fleet. The agreement also represents one of the significant transactions announced at this year’s Dubai Airshow, underscoring the emirate’s role as a central hub for global aviation deals and innovation. With this purchase, Emirates continues to advance its long-term aircraft acquisition program, contributing to the airline’s overall operational efficiency and aligning with the broader goals of sustainable aviation growth across the region. – By Content Syndication Services.
